At the end of an exciting term of schoolboy rugby, the Independent Schools RFC keep on bringing even more excitement to pupils from across the country as they announce their regional squads. Today they have revealed their Midlands squad.
Earlier in the week the Lambs revealed the U18 North squad to face Hymers College in their centenary match this weekend, and then revealed their South East squad to take on the South West on the 6th January.
Today they released details of their Midlands squad, which unlike the other two is just a 21 rather than 24 man squad, though numbers could be added.
The Midlands will be taking on the North on the 6th January at Mount St Mary’s College in Spinkhill. The match will double up as a trial game for selection to the ‘North’ side, which will take on a combination side from the South East and South West on the 13th January.
The major contributors to the squad are Radley and Berkhamsted with three players each, reflecting their strong seasons. Radley have proven themselves to be one of the top sides in the country this term, beating some of the strongest sides around, including a victory over Marlborough, who have lost to no one else.
Two of the other top teams from the Midlands, Bedford and Rugby, contribute two players each after solid seasons, while Uppingham also have two after revitalising their season with a strong second half of term.
Wisbech Grammar and Bedstone also contribute two each, while King Edward’s Birmingham, The Perse, Shiplake and St Columbas all contribute one each.
