The first full weekend of school rugby fixtures of the term saw some extraordinary results and performances across the country.
Warwick carried on their strong form from last term with an excellent 24-3 win against last year’s Daily Mail Finalists Old Swinford Hospital, who have now lost both of their games so far this term.
Both Brighton and St Joseph’s College’s racked up half centuries as they pulled out a pair of stunning performances to beat St Olave’s and London oratory respectively.
Campion showed their form with a 41-5 win against Dartford GS, though the game of the day was without doubt the 26 all draw between King’s School Macclesfield and Kirkham Grammar, an extraordinary tie.
Whitgift and Hampton left supporters in a state of extreme anticipation ahead of their Daily Mail Cup clash on Wednesday after both stuck 46 points on their opposition, Hampton seeing off Portsmouth Grammar and Whitgift making light work of Ravens Wood.
RGS High Wycombe looked ready for their Daily Mail challenge against Truro on Wednesday as they beat Judd 39-3 while Sherborne confirmed their place in Round 6 with a 13-5 victory over Bishop’s Wordsworth.
Attention turns fully to the Daily Mail Cup this week though, with almost all of the Last 16 fixtures scheduled to be completed by Thursday. Millfield and Repton will demand some attention on Wednesday though as they play Coleg Morgannwg and Shrewsbury B’s.

Midweek Fixtures:
Millfield v Coleg Morgannwg
Shrewsbury B’s v Repton
Daily Mail Cup U18 Fixtures:
Warwick v Stamford (Tues) – Such a tough game to call, Stamford have been sublime this season, while Warwick have been excellent too and have home advantage. Stamford to edge it – just.
Dulwich v KCS Wimbledon – Two top sides but with home advantage, an unbeaten (bar St Jo’s) season and some top class players, Dulwich should win this.
Durham v Wilmslow High – Unbeaten Durham must surely win this, too good not to be in the national stages.
Whitgift v Hampton – Yet another extraordinarily close call. Backing Whitgift by a whisker, home advantage just swinging it.
Northampton School for Boys v King’s School, Worcester – Northampton have surprised everyone time after time in this Daily Mail Cup run, it feels wrong to bet against them once again but King’s Worcester are a classy outfit.
King’s School Macclesfield v Wirral Grammar School – King’s Macclesfield have been one of the top sides in the country so far, and after that unbelievable draw against Kirkham it seems impossible to believe they can play twice in a week and not win either.
Sherborne v Marlborough – Two top class sides, both of whom deserve to be in the last 8. However, having been named our Team of the Term, Marlborough simply have too much talent not to progress. Well worth watching though.
Truro v RGS High Wycombe – RGS will surely win this tie after displaying some really impressive form of late.Â
