The Independent Schools Lambs have named their squad to face Crawshay’s Welsh XV at Maidenhead RFC on the 9th February.
The Lambs opened their account for the season with a thrilling 52-15 victory over an Irish Exiles XV last weekend and will be looking for more of the same next week.
The Lambs are making full use of their 33 man squad, making plenty of changes from the matchday 23 that defeated the Exiles as they look to give everyone a chance to show their skills ahead of the tour of Ireland this Easter.
Iain Billington takes over the captaincy this week from the second row where either Jamie Williams or Cheltenham College’s Ben Bruce will join him.
There are ten debutants in the squad with at least four guaranteed to start, though of course in keeping with the Lambs ethos all players will play for at least a half.
Special mention must go to Brentwood School who provide two members of the squad who will win their first caps.
News of their achievement has spread far and wide, as indeed has the story of the Lambs themselves, with a number of Brentwoods former pupils contacting us and writing to the Brentwood headmaster to offer their congratulations to the boys.
It is that perhaps as much as anything else that encapsulates the spirit of the Lambs and the pride in which everyone who pulls on that pink shirt should feel about their achievement.
The Squad is as follows:
George Adams, Wing, Bedford School – 1 cap
Charlie Banks, Full Back, Colfe’s School – 1 cap
