The Sevens season continues this weekend with the Christ College Brecon Invitation Sevens, won last year by Llandovery College.

The season began two weeks ago with the Shiplake sevens, won by Hurstpierpoint, and was planned to continue with the Portsmouth Grammar School sevens last weekend but weather conditions forced the tournament to be called off.

Christ College’s sevens this weekend offers a chance for many of the big hitters of schoolboy sevens to make their first moves of the season as they all look to build towards the Rosslyn Park National Schools Sevens, beginning on the 19^th March.

The Christ College sevens is made up of 20 teams split into four groups. The hosts are drawn in Group A which looks like one of the most evenly matched groups in the competition.

Group B features 2011 winners Ellesmere College and 2012 finalists Bryanston. Bryanston will be favourites to top the group this year though, such is the depth of quality in their squad.

Group C features two of the most respected names on the school circuit in Blundells and Cheltenham College, however it is Llandovery College, the 2012 champions, who will be expected to top this with Kirkham Grammar challenging hard.

Group D features schoolboy sevens giants Millfield, three time Christ College 7’s winners, and last seasons Daily Mail Cup finalists Old Swinford Hospital. Millfield will be expected to top the group, and will be expected to do so in style, but they must be weary of potential banana skins Malvern College too.
