Millfield aiming for 2 titles in 5 days at Wycliffe 7s

The draw for Thursday’s Wycliffe 7s has been announced, with Millfield looking to retain their 2013 title and win their second tournament in a week.

The holders are drawn in Group A alongside the side that they beat in last year’s final, Dean Close. Joining them in Group A are the hosts Wycliffe, who also won the tournament back in 2012, as well as Bristol Grammar School and KES Bath.

Sir Thomas Rich’s will be the favourites for Group B given their exploits in the longer format of the game last term and in the early stages of this. Kingswood and Prior Park will likely be their toughest competition, however Katherine Lady Berkeley’s and Marling will also be ready to capitalize on any weakness.

It might just be a small ten team tournament but the Wycliffe 7s serves as another useful stepping stone for these sides as they build up their performances and their sevens acumen ahead of the Rosslyn Park National Schools 7s at the end of the month.

Millfield look as though they will be favourites to take the title here, particularly in light of their exploits over at Colston’s on Sunday, however you can be certain that nobody will be making life easy on Thursday.
