England U18 Clubs and Schools have named their side to face France U18 A in the final game of the Tri-Nations tournament at the French National Training Centre in Marcoussis.

Epsom College’s Charlie Dockery, who scored in defeat to Ireland U18 Clubs on Wednesday, will captain the side from full back after regular captain and Barnard Castle back rower, Jonny Coser, was ruled out of the side with a shoulder injury sustained in the same game.

Dale Lemon comes into the side in the back row and the Cleeve man will also take over the vice captaincy. He is joined in the loose forwards by Abingdon’s Michael Dewar and Oaklands College’s Alex Brown.

Brown was one of three try scorers in the 30-22 defeat to Ireland, as was Uppingham’s Tom Bell, who starts in the second row alongside Adam Thresher of Judd School.

In the front row Truro School’s excellent hooker, Locryn Williams, starts. Charlie Brown of South Essex College and Josh Waller of Peterborough Regional Colelge will be his props.

Dan Lewis, who was Player of the Tournament at the St Joseph’s Festival in October, starts the game at fly half. The St Joseph’s College man is partnered by Rugby’s Ben Pointon at scrum half.

Charles Dunbar of Stamford and Ben Dixon of Carre’s start in the centres, while Hartpury College’s James Neal and St Benedict’s Michael Ledger retain their spots of the wings.

Ahead of the game England Head Coach, Dave Reed, said:

 “They are a big physical side and I expect that they will get stuck into us from the start. But we are hoping that we will be able to play with a lot of pace and run them around a bit, we could have torrid time in terms of their physicality but I’m not sure that they will live with our expansive game.”

 “We had a great session analysing the Ireland game where the players themselves identified discipline as a key issue, that was very encouraging from a coach’s point of view and it’s all about the development process and players learning from their mistakes.”
