What a weekend of rugby it has been, with some great games and fascinating results.
In our Daily Mail Trophy Prediction Competition 7 people won Fifteen Rugby t-shirts, correctly predicting wins for RGS Newcastle, Abingdon, Dulwich College, RGS High Wycombe, and Wellington College. We were at the Whitgift v Wellington game, a fascinating encounter, and you can read our report here: Whitgift v Wellington.
Elsewhere there were some real standout results. Stonyhurst landed a late penalty to dramatically beat Bradford Grammar 30-28, while Stamford again cemented their home record, beating Bedford 25-16.
Bromsgrove and Oundle played a thriller, won 26-20 by Bromsgrove and Millfield stunningly beat Bryanston 40-0. Even more stunning perhaps was a 51-15 win for Denstone Colelge over Ellsemere.
Talking of big wins, what about a second half century in a row for Kirkham as they beat St Ambrose 59-7? King’s Macclesfield and Lymm High was much tighter, a thrilling 17-17 draw.
Hymers College own their 5th in a row with a 37-6 win v Mount St Mary’s. Staying North, Sedbergh won a classic Anglo-Scots clash v Merchiston Castle 29-24, while Woodhouse Grove fell to a second defeat of the season, 10-0 to Wilmslow High, their grip on the Trophy looks to be weakening.
St Joseph’s were in good nick ahead of their Festival, they beat the Bedford Blues Academy 24-7, an excellent result.
