On the surface this week’s AASE results were true to form, though Moulton’s first win of the season over Worcester 6^th form College slightly bucked that trend.

It was a great result for the Northampton Saints feeder side, who won 23-8 to bring them level on points at the foot of the Northern Conference with Gosforth Academy.

Gosforth also have just the one victory so far this season but put in a sterling effort to stay within touching distance of Hartpury College, losing just 34-16 as the Champions extended their advantage at the top of the Northern Conference.

Hartpury’s nearest challengers are Oaklands College, and they picked up an excellent win away at Myerscough College, whom we had predicted to sneak this one, winning 20-14 to put an eleven point gap in the standings between the two.

Truro remain the pace setters in the South, beating Bicton College 15-0 to stay top on 23 points. Despite having one more victory than St Paul’s though, Truro are just a point ahead of St Paul’s, whose accumulation of bonus points is paying dividends.

They survived a battling performance from Ivybridge to win 24-13 yesterday, leaving Ivybridge in fifth place, one ahead of bottom side Henley College.

Henley went down for the fifth time this season, losing 17-5 to Filton. Filton remain in third place, four points behind St Paul’s but level on victories.
