NatWest Cup & Vase Quarter Finals Round Up

The NatWest Cup and Vase semi finals have begun to take shape with games being played across all both competitions at U18 and U15 level today.

More results will come in over the next few days with more games scheduled for tomorrow too, but here is a roundup of the news so far.

U18 Cup

In the U18 Cup the pick of the day for sheer drama had to go to Dulwich College, who slotted a late drop goal to beat Hampton 8-7, of which you can see our match report here: Dulwich v Hampton.

The other U18 Cup quarter final played today was between Bromsgrove and Dauntsey’s. It was a tit for tat affair early on, with Dauntseys leading 17-15, however Bromsgrove soon showed the class that has seen them tipped as one of this year’s favourites, pulling away to a 44-17 victory.

Bromsgrove will face Oundle in the semi final at Allianz Park after they beat Lymm High School 21-12 with a dominant first half display, you can see our take on that game here: Oundle v Lymm. Meanwhile next week’s result between St Joseph’s and Wilmslow will decide Dulwich’s opponent.

U15 Cup

Dulwich were not so successful in the U15 Cup as an inspired QEGS Wakefield won 31-7 on Dulwich turf. QEGS know their semi final opponents too as a late fightback saw Northampton School for Boys draw with Wirral Grammar School, only to be knocked out with Wirral being the away side.

Earlier in the week Warwick increased their chances of a third title in a row after beating Wellington College 10-14 on Wellington’s famous Bigside pitch, they will play either Brighton College or Ivybridge Community College at Allianz Park in the semi finals.

U18 Vase

The U18 Vase semi finals are all decided, with all four games having been played this week.

On Monday Stockport Grammar School beat Welbeck 32-15, they will play Seevic College after they beat St George’s Weybridge, who unfortunately crashed out in both age groups.

In the other half of the draw and extraordinary last minute score from KES Aston helped them to a dramatic 12-10 victory over West Buckland, while a high scoring 25-21 victory for Churcher’s College over Cheadle Hulme completes the section’s results.

U15 Vase

St George’s U15s lost to Oakham 24-13, setting up a semi final for Oakham against either Bishop Wordsworth or Stockport Grammar. Meanwhile Felsted’s long trip to RGS Newcastle was to no avail as their hosts won 17-14, setting up a semi final against either Sherborne, who beat St Columba’s College 21-8 to reach Allianz Park.
