Reigate Grammar School Charity 7s Draw Revealed

The draw for the 2015 Reigate Grammar School Charity 7s has been announced and features many of the top teams from around the Southern Region.

The competition takes place on Sunday 1st March and features 32 teams split across eight groups, with the winners then competing for the Cup, second place the Plate, third for the Shield, and fourth for the Bowl.

Last year the competition was won by Tonbridge, who beat 2012 Champions Epsom College in the final.

Tonbridge are in the final group, Group H, alongside Royal Hospital School, Shiplake College, and Portsmouth Grammar School. Epsom meanwhile reside in Group C, where Canford, Caterham, and Wisbech Grammar School will be looking to keep them from top spot.

In 2013 Whitgift picked up the Cup, they are in Group B alongside the hosts, Reigate Grammar School, as well as RGS Guildford and Sutton Valence.

It is other groups that perhaps catch the eye though, just for their sheer competitiveness. Group D looks like a high class pool, John Fisher reached the Rosslyn Park final last year and beat Millfield at Twickenham, they will be challenged by St Joseph’s College, who are always superb runners of the ball. St John’s Leatherhead and Wimbledon College complete an exciting looking group.

Similarly Group F could prove interesting, Hampton, Dulwich College, and KCS Wimbledon are all more than capable of taking points off each other, while Cranbrook will want to get in on the action too.

Group E could also be interesting, Brighton College were finalists in 2012 and 2013 but will want to go one better, they must overcome early challenges from City of London Freemen’s, London Oratory, and in particular St Paul’s to give themselves a chance though.

Group G meanwhile features the only AASE side in the competition, SGS Filton College, who will be strong favourites in a pool containing Christ’s Hospital, Judd, and Wallington County Grammar.

The Cup favourites will likely be Wellington College though, they are arguably the school 7s team to beat, and are accordingly drawn in Group A, where Reed’s, Hurstpierpoint College, and Culford will be their opponents. In such a high class field as this though, there are no guarantees.
