The QES Kirkby 7s takes place on Wednesday, with sixteen schools coming together to form the four group tournament.
The sixteen teams are in four group of four, with the winner of each entering the Cup semi finals, second place the Plate, and third place the Bowl.
Sedbergh, who won the competition last year, beating Ermysted’s Grammar in the final, will likely be the favourites again this year.
They are drawn against Ermysted’s in Group C, meaning that that final will be repeated early on, as well as Kirbie Kendal, and the host QES Kirby.
Perhaps the strongest challengers could come in the form of AASE side Myerscough College. They are drawn in Group D alongside Bolton School, Ullswater Community College, and Altrincham Grammar School.
Group B sees the Plate holders RGS Lancaster drawn alongside Austin Friars, Queen Ethelburga’s, and Sandbach, while Group A is made up of Giggleswick, Morecambe Community High School, QEGS Penrith, and Manchester Grammar.
It ought to be an excellent tournament, but Sedbergh will surely fancy their chances, particularly having already collected one trophy this season.
