4 Exiles named in Ireland U19 7s squad

Ireland have named their 12-man U19 squad for this weekend’s U19 Rugby Europe 7s Championship at Louis Darragon Stadium in Vichy, France.

Ireland picked up the Plate last year and are in Pool D this year along with Poland, Moldova, and Latvia, and a seeded 5th overall, with France, Russia, Portugal, and Poland seeded ahead.

The squad contains four current Exiles, Filton College’s Alex Kilbane, Worcester Warriors’ Ciaran Wardle, Wimbledon College’s Alex Cane, and Bristol Academy’s Josh Daly, who last year played for the Irish U18 Clubs side alongside Kieran Joyce, now at Ulster, who was a Solihull School pupil last year and is also included in the squad.

Two of last year’s Irish U18 Schools side, Matthew Gilsenan and Jack Power are included in the squad, as is Michael Melia, who played against France in the recent U19 international.

Kelvin Brown, Hugo Keenan, Terry Kennedy, and Dan Lavelle make up the rest of the squad.
