Four schoolboys awarded Senior Academy contracts at London Irish

London Irish have announced that five new players will be awarded Senior Academy Contracts for the 2015/16 season, including four schoolboys.

The players are Theo Brophy-Clews, Johnny Williams, Curtis Langdon, Callum Watson, and Harry Elrington.

Brophy-Clews, Williamds and Langdon have all represented England U18 this year. Brophy-Clews, currently at Abindgon School, captained the England U18 side from half. Williams and Langdon are both at St Paul’s Catholic College, which is the London Irish AASE affiliate college. Williams is a centre and Langdon a hooker.

Callum Watson is a versatile back, who starred for the Exiles in the U18 Premiership. Watson is currently at St George’s College, Weybridge, whose former players include his older brother Anthony Watson the England and Bath wing/full back.

Joining those four, as well as Connor Murphy, Ross Neal, and Ollie Curry, in the Senior Academy will be Harry Elrington. Elrington will switch to Irish from Loughborough University in National League 1 after impressing while training with the Premiership side this season.

London Irish Academy Director Nick Kennedy said:

 “All of the boys have worked really hard and deserve this opportunity. The Academy at London Irish is a massive part of building the future of this Club and we look forward to working with them as they continue their development to be London Irish first XV players in the future.”
