The Weekend Review: Issue 16 – Lions Watch

BECOME A PATRON

What with the 2016/17 season being a British and Irish Lions season, we will taking part in the fantasy selection fun that we will all see across every media outlet for the next year.

Once a month we will pick a Lions team and wider squad and publish it in our newsletter, it should be fairly interesting to see how it evolves throughout the season and how many of the players selected in this issues first squad will still be in the squad or starting come the actual tour.

Already the buzz for the Lions is building, and it is only going to get stronger, with the first major milestone of the Lions season fast approaching; the Head Coach will be announced in Edinburgh on the 7th September.

Here then is our first stab at a Lions starting XV and wider squad. It is heavy of English and Welsh players, with a fair smattering of Irishmen and a sprinkling of Scots. Our bet is that the number of Irishmen will go up over the season as Joe Schmidt continues to spread his coaching genius.
