After the second day of the WURC the Ikey Tigers from the University of Cape Town have come out as the strong favorites for the WURC final. Earlier in the day they comfortably dispatched the OURFC Blues to come top of Pool 1. The semi Finals saw them come up against the University of British Columbia, who had won the hearts of many supporters after their shock victory over New Zealand Universities on day 1.

The highly anticipated game saw both teams going at each other in a ferocious encounter, which ended 24-12.

On the other side of the draw OURFC, pool runners up, faced old rivals Trinity College, Dublin. Oxford, who had beaten earlier that day by the Ikey Tigers, were looking to make amends and mount a last push for the final.

Trinity, who had won their pool after some tough fixtures against NZU and UBC came out fighting, with some strong support from travelling fans. The hosts were to be disappointed as Trinity’s discipline and pace out wide resulted in a 21-0 win for the Irish University. 

Oxford will play a strong UBC outfit, looking to finish their fantastic cup performance with a win over the home team. The game takes place on Monday 21st at 13.00, to decide the 3rd/4th spot.

The final between Trinity and the Ikey Tigers will take place Monday 21st at 16.30 at Iffley Road.
