St Paul’s Catholic College mounted a stunning comeback yesterday in the AASE league, coming form 20-0 down against Henley College to win 28-25.

With that win they secured themselves at the top of the Southern Division, five points clear of their nearest challengers Bicton College, whose stunning 57-5 win over Beechen Cliff pushed them clear of Truro and Filton.

Filton’s day off saw them slide from second to fourth, while a draw for Truro Colelge against Ivybridge Community College leaves them a point shy of Bicton, in third.

The league is looking incredibly close this year, with second and fifth separated by just four points, suggesting that we are in for an exciting ride.

In the North Wyggeston continued their fine unbeaten start to their debut AASE season, they beat Gosforth Academy 23-21 to remain at the top of the pile, with 24 from a possible 25 points.

Hartpury College look set to catch them once the game in hand has been played, they too are unbeaten and have taken 19 of a possible 20 points available after their 46-27 victory over sixth placed Moulton College.

Oaklands’ miserable start continues, they were beaten 19-5 by Worcester 6^th form College and remain without a win at the foot of the table.
