Bicton College stunned St Paul’s Catholic College to win 15-19 in the AASE South League.

Bicton withstood a lungbursting St Paul’s effort near the death but held on and now sit just two points behind the pace-setters in the Southern Division, behind only thanks to bonus points.

Below those two are Filton College, who firmed up their third position in the table by beating the previous occupants of that spot, Truro College, but a strong 34-19 scoreline. It keeps Filton within a victory of the top of the table, while Truro are now seven points adrift.

They are also just a point clear of Ivybridge, who drew today for the second week in a row. Last week it came against Truro, this week it was a 17-17 effort at home against second from bottom Henley, who are just a win off fourth spot themselves. Beechen Cliff remain bottom after a week off.

In the Northern Division Hartpury College are now back in their usual top spot after a stunning 65-7 victory over Gosforth Academy, which included five tries in the opening twenty minutes, saw them go a point clear of Wyggeston, who had a bye week this week.

Gosforth were third at the start of the day, but it is so nip and tuck between third and fifth that they now slip to that fifth place. Myerscough are now up to third place after their 10-8 win over the struggling Oaklands College.

Moulton College remain fixed at the foot of the table after Worcester 6^th form College jumped up to fourth with their 38-24 victory.

With Wyggeston and Hartpury meeting next week, the Northern Division of the AASE league could be about to have its defining week.
