Sedbergh retain their place at the top of the Daily Mail Trophy table after they put over forty points on the in form Barnard Castle.

The win actually extends their lead at the top, and on current form they really do look like the side to beat in the competition.

A good win for Bromsgrove over Stowe saw them hold their grip on second place, albeit they are level on points with Bedford in third, who retain their spot despite not playing this weekend.

Durham jump up from ninth to fourth after their win over Ampleforth College, which bumps Hampton from fourth to fifth, their St Joseph’s Festival heroics not counting towards the Daily Mail Trophy.

Reed’s, like Hampton, were not playing a Trophy fixture this week and they too drop a place due to Durham’s climb, from fifth to sixth. Sherborne suffer the same fate, dropping from sixth to seventh.

A victory over Eton sees Wellington College back into the top ten in eighth. They one of just two sides in the top ten to have lost a game, the other being Durham, and in fact Wellington have lost two, which just shows how good their wins have been.

Stockport Grammar drop from eighth to ninth, they have still only actually played two Trophy games. Reigate Grammar School’s loss to Tiffin sees them drop out of the top 10 for the first time all season.

Haileybury also drop out of the top ten, they are replaced in tenth by Kirkham Grammar School, whose six wins from six, including a victory over Abingdon on Saturday, finally sees them into the top ten.

It all looks like it is shaping up to be Sedbergh’s to lose, but the others will keep chasing hard. There is a lot of rugby left to be played, and every defeat makes a huge difference.
