Schools Rugby Midweek Preview & Predictions – Exciting week ahead after half term break

With schools heading back from the half term break, midweek schools rugby is also back, and it looks like a busy week ahead.

There are fixtures every day, including plenty of NatWest Cup action as well as some exciting non-cup fixtures.

Monday

On Monday the NatWest Cup returned, with Weston College beating Downside. St Albans meanwhile beat Bishop’s Stortford High School 16-6.

Tuesday

Tuesday, like Monday, was not too busy, however there were some quality fixtures. Uppingham travelled for a tough fixture at Leicester Grammar School but were unable to come away with the victory as their hosts won 38-17. Uppingham’s great rivals Oundle featured in arguably the game of the week.
They travelled to Radley College, for what was an excellent and competitive game of rugby. Oundle were the dominant side, winning 28-8, you can see our report here: Radley College v Oundle. New Hall were also in action, hosting local rivals Woodbridge, but fell to a surprise 15-12 defeat.

Wednesday

There are a three Cup fixtures on Wednesday as Bishop’s Stortford College host Richard Hale and Nottingham High School travel to Welbeck. One of the real star teams of the competition in recent year’s are RGS High Wycombe, they host Sir William Borlase’s.

Tiffin v KCS Wimbledon looks like being a very competitive game, both already have some very strong results under their belts this season.

Bloxham will be fancying their chances away at Lawrence Sherriff, while London Oratory, enjoying a good Cup run, have a non-cup game at home to UCS.

One of the big games of the day will be St Peter’s Gloucester’s trip to Old Swinford Hosptial, with St Ambrose College v Sandbach also likely to be a highlight.

Thursday

The NatWest Cup sees action again on Thursday, Wycliffe College travel to Backwell. Outside of the Cup King’s Rochester host Bethany.

Friday

Under the lights on Friday evening Pangbourne College meet Churcher’s College, a game that should be a great occasion, as all Friday night fixtures tend to be.
