A fascinating weekend of schools rugby has brought the Daily Mail Trophy towards a dramatic finish as it moves towards its final week of play.
Wellington College still top the table, but there having not played this weekend, and lost to Sedbergh in midweek, the title is still very much up for grabs.
Bedford’s brilliant win over Abingdon has now brought them up from fourth to second in the table, and they now look like being Wellington College’s closest challengers – could they achieve a perfect season by adding an unbeaten season and the Daily Mail Trophy to their already superb Champions Trophy triumph/
Kirkham Grammar School drop from second to third, but still narrow their points margin to the pace-setters, their win over Woodhouse Grove taking care of that, they too look like strong challneges.
Sedbergh move up from fifth to fourth and are still in with a shout, they face Millfield in midweek, where maximum points are on offer.
Bromsgrove slide from third to fifth after not having an eligible game this weekend, but they too remain in the hunt.
Woodhouse Grove stand firm in 6th despite losing to Kirkham Grammar, while Stockport Grammar move up to 7th from eighth as Durham slip out of the Top 10 following defeat to St Peter’s York.
Whitgift’s defeat to Millfield sees them slip out of the top 10 and they are replaced by the unbeaten Clifton College in ninth after they beat Sherborne. Stowe come in above Clifton in eighth after their 17-10 win against Clifton College.
There is a third new side in the top ten as Solihull replace Bradford Grammar in tenth after the Yorkshire side lost to RGS Newcastle, while Solihull enjoyed a huge win against Trent College.
Back at the top it is still very much advantage Wellington College though, not only do they have a lead, but they also have two Daily Mail Trophy games remaining, a luxury that on Bromsgrove share with them.
