U15 NatWest Cup: Wellington College storm into quarter finals

Wellington College looked good on Bigside today as Ivybridge Community College never recovered from going two tries down in the first 5 minutes.

The visitors did score two good tries themselves just before half time though to change ends only 26-14 down.

From stand-off, Wellington’s Will Sinfield distributed well and kicked intelligently. Ross Hanekom, playing at inside centre, was superb, while wingers Alex Wilson and Jasper Johnston scored an excellent brace each, showing speed and power.

It was probably not the most rewarding day for the Exeter Chief spotters, although the Ivybridge centres were both outstanding.

The Wellington off-load game was very good and their pack has size, pace and strength. The visitors kept going well though, and when Wellington rotated the squad they kept up the pressure. A last minute interception try by Bertie Morgan perhaps slightly flattered the score line for Wellington.

Wellington College now enter the pot for the quarter final draw, where they will hope to avoid Warwick, who have ended Wellington College’s U15 NatWest Cup dreams for the last three years.
