School 7s: Hampton aiming for further success at Wednesday’s Worth 7s

Wednesday’s Worth 7s draw has been made, the well respected tournament will feature twelve top schools.
There are actually two tournaments, a first VII tournament, which sees twelve teams split into three groups of four, and a 2nd VII tournament, with ten teams split into two groups of five.

In the 1st VII competition the top two sides from each group, plus the two best third placed sides will compete in the Cup quarter finals, the remaining four sides will play in the Plate semi finals.

Last year’s Champions were Tonbridge, who beat Hampton 19-14 in the final. Tonbridge are unfortunately not represented this year, but Hampton are drawn in a very tricky looking Group A alongside Reigate Grammar, Seaford College, and Ardingly College.

Brighton College claimed the 2014 title, and they return again for another challenge in Group B, where Cardinal Newman, Shiplake College, and Steyning Grammar will be their opponents.

Host school, Worth, are in Group C alongside Bethany, Campion, and The Oratory.

The 2nd VII tournament will see the top four in each group compete in the Shield quarter finals. Group 1 sees Brighton College, Campion, Reigate Grammar, The Oratory, and Worth’s 2nd VIIs compete.

Group 2 sees the Hampton 2nd VII, champions in the last two years, compete against 2nd VIIs from Cardinal Newman and Steyning Grammar, as well as St John’s College’s 1st VII, and Worth’s 3rd VII.
