Wednesday sees the Llandovery College 7s take place, one of the biggest 7s tournaments of the season.
The Llandovery College 7s is a great chance to assess the various Welsh schools and colleges who will be attending the HSBC Rosslyn Park National School 7s. Thirty-two teams will be competing for the title, and Millfield and their 2nd VII are the only English school in the competition.
Millfield have a great history in the competition, indeed over the last few years, they and Coleg Sir Gar, the Welsh giants, have pretty much had the competition sowed up between them. Sir Gar beat Millfield 26-19 in last year’s final, with Millfield winning the previous two, and Sir Gar winning again back in 2012.
This year Millfield are drawn in Group A, while Sir Gar are right at the opposite side of the draw in Group H, alongside Millfield’s 2nd VII.
There are eight groups composed of four teams each, the top two in each group will qualify for the last 16 of the Cup competition, while the third placed sides will be in the Plate quarter finals.
Hosts Llandovery College are in Group E, while Ysgol Gyfun Glantaf, so impressive on Sunday at the Marches 7s, are in Group C.
