Sedbergh secured their first ever NatWest Schools Cup, beating Millfield 13-10 in Sunday’s semi final at Allianz Park.
It was a nail biting game, 10-10 moving into the into the final stages, however a late penalty from Sedbergh’s Will Haydon-Wood secured that all important Sedbergh victory.
Sedbergh had in fact been behind, 10-5, at the break. A try from Josh Gillespie, conerted by Adebayo Karim, followed by a Karim penalty giving Millfield that lead, with Harry Hill responding for Sedbergh.
Sedbergh then drew level in the second half through lock Taran Stewart, before that all important Hyadon-Wood penalty.
That gave Sedbergh a 13-10 victory over their great rivals Millfield, and means that they will travel to Twickenham a week on Wednesday to face another of their great rivals, Wellington College, who beat Warwick 7-3 in the second semi final.
