This week has seen some excellent rugby as schools return from the half term break.
There has been action in the NatWest Cup, Champions Trophy, and plenty more in between, here’s our roundup of what’s happened.
Monday
Monday was a relatively quiet day, with just the one fixture as Judd once again proved why they are so highly rated as they saw off Hurstpierpoint College to make it into the fourth round of the NatWest Cup.
Tuesday
Tuesday was a huge day in the Champions Trophy as the quarter final stage began. Tonbridge hosted Eton College, winning a tense and tight game 18-10 to become the first side to qualify for the semi finals, you can see our report here: Tonbridge v Eton College.
There was also action in Hertfordshire in the county cup as Haileybury beat St Columba’s College 36-21.
Wednesday
Wednesday was a much busier day, with the NatWest Cup in full flow. Christ’s Hospital were on form to progress with a 26-12 win over Worthing College, with Sandbach running out as 28-16 winners over Bishop Vesey’s.
Over in the Plate Plymouth College saw of Colston’s 29-12, with Newcastle-Under-Lyme moving past QEGS Ashbourne 34-3, and Yarm in fine form again Hartlepool 6th form College, beating them 56-17.
In the Vase Watford Grammar saw off Dame Alice Owen’s 58-21, while it was a stunning 69-14 victory for Harrogate Grammar School against Ashville College. Things were much tighter in the South West as Sir William Borlase’s edged past Reading Blue Coat, 21-18.
Over in the Bowl Wycliffe College beat Beaufort 43-12 and Gordon’s beat Oaklands 18-10.
There was also action outside of the various Cup competitions, with Bedford Modern on form for a 25-17 victory over Nottingham High School, and Bloxham beating Lawrence Sherriff 28-17.
Blundell’s still look like a side in form as they saw off Whitchurch High School 29-17, while Hayes School were in outstanding form, dismissing the Wilmington Grammar challenge for a 40-7 victory.
Thursday
On Thursday the only fixture was a huge NatWest Cup game between RGS High Wycombe and Sir Thomas Rich’s. RGS have huge pedigree in the competition but they were stunned in the final play of a thrilling game by Sir Thomas Rich’s, whose late score secured a 24-23 victory to take them into the next round, knocking RGS out.
