November has certainly started with a bang in the schools rugby world, and this midweek has been no different.
The Champions Trophy was the dominant story of the week, with the remaining three quarter finals taking place as well as the semi final draw. We have covered that competition elsewhere, and you can see our reports, roundup of the round, and semi final draw here: Champions Trophy Roundup.
However there was plenty of other rugby on show too, more than warranting a look in this midweek update.
Tuesday
Oundle made the last 16 of the NatWest Cup with a brilliant 22-18 win away at Stamford, they now face Warwick for a place in the National Quarter Final draw, a tough task but one that they will relish, especially at home.
In the Plate there was a bit of a surprise result as Cooper’s Coborn defeated new Hall 20-19, while in the Vase The Perse had a great result, beating Langley 28-5.
Meanwhile in the Champions Trophy Bedford kept their title defence alive, beating Canford 31-8.
Wednesday
Wednesday was a very busy day across the board. In the NatWest Cup Bromsgrove are still in with a chance of a third title in a row after they beat Lawrence Sherriff 33-21. They now face Sandbach in the last 16, and will fancy their chances of reaching the quarter finals once again.
Exeter School are also into the last 16 with a 34-17 win over Weston College, setting up a last 16 tie away at Sir Thomas Rich’s.
Barnard Castle v RGS Newcaslte was postponed due to snow, the winner will play QEGS Wakefield though after they beat St Peter’s York 37-20.
Bishop Wordsworth’s fine form continued as they saw off Pangbourne College, 32-14. That set up a last 16 tie for the dark horses against Christ’s Hospital , who previously beat Worthing 26-12. They were in action in a friendly this midweek though, beating Steyning Grammar 48-0.
Stockport Grammar School won a thriller against perennial quarter finalists Wilmslow High, narrowly clinching it 25-24. That means that they will meet Manchester Grammar School in the last 16 after they beat Stonyhurst College 24-12.

In the Plate Caterham were highly impressive, beating Maidstone Grammar 18-3, while Cheadle Hulme beat Merchant Taylors’ 41-31, a thrilling game. Reigate Grammar’s challenge remains in rude health as they beat Portsmouth Grammar 22-12.
There was good news for Solihull as they saw off RGS Worcester in style, 43-17. St Columba’s College knocked the wind out of Plymouth College’s sails with a 27-5 win, while Wimbledon College won a tight game against Tiffin, 6-5.
Hereford 6th form College stunned Hereford Cathedral School in the Vase, taking a 26-0 victory, while in the Midlands Worksop College beat King’s Grantham 13-8 and King Henry VIII Coventry took a 38-13 victory over King Edward VI Camp Hill.

Outside of the Cup there was a thrilling 27-27 draw between Hayes School and Salesian, while Windsor Boys were on form against Lord Wandsworth College, winning 30-24.
In the Champions Trophy it was progress for Epsom College and Oakham as they beat Blundell’s and Monmouth, 29-7 and 23-8 respectively.
Thursday
Thursday was a quieter day but there was a huge result in the Cup as Felsted beat Campion 29-10. That sets up a tough last 16 encounter for the Essex side, they face 2010 and 2011 Champions Whitgift. Two of the members of those title winning sides, Elliot Daly and Marland Yarde, start for England on Saturday, incidentally.
There was also a massive game in Scotland as two of their most famous rugby schools met, George Watson’s and Loretto, with George Watson’s enjoying a stunning performance to secure a 41-12 victory.
