The AASE League resumes on Wednesday, with places in the final up for grabs.
In the South Divisions this is the final week of play, while the North will see one game in both the first and second divisions take place next week.
North 1
Gosforth Academy could seal a place in the final on Wednesday if they beat Worcester 6th form College. It is Worcester’s first game of the second stage, and a win for them would open the possibility of a place in the final for either them or Oaklands College, depending on who wins their clash next week. Gosforth hold the aces after their win over Oaklands last week though.
South 1
Hartpury College can make the final once again this year if they beat Beechen Cliff on Wednesday. The Gloucester side have won every edition of the AASE League, and with last week’s narrow win over Exeter College coupled with a win two weeks ago over Henley College, they are now just a win away from another final.
Even a loss could still see Hartpury qualify, should Henley College beat Exeter College at home. Exeter are the only side that can catch Hartpury at the top of the table, but they need the champions to slip up against Beechen Cliff.
North 2
Wyggeston & Queen Elizabeth I College can seal top spot in division two with a win over Bishop Burton College. The Leicester Tigers AASE side will fancy their chances, Bishop Burton have not won in the AASE league this season and were handed a very heavy defeat by Moulton College last week.
Moulton are at home again this week, hosting Myerscough College, who are a game behind in the league and will play again next week against Bishop Burton College. Two wins could see Myerscough overtake Wyggeston, should Bishop Burton claim that elusive victory on Wednesday.
South 2
Truro College, top of division two in the south, travel to St Paul’s Catholic College, where the winner will almost certainly finish top of the division. Truro will likely be favourites though, they have been in flying form since the league split.
The other game sees Ivybridge Community College host SGS Filton College. Filton currently have one win from their two games, over St Paul’s, but lost to Truro last week, however Ivybridge are yet to get off the mark since the split and will be keen to end the season on a high.
