Schools Rugby Midweek Preview: Big club grounds to host school fixtures

This week there are some fascinating games of schools rugby on offer, with a number of exciting evening kick offs.

Rosslyn Park and Ealing Trailfinders will play host to games, while the NatWest competitions also see their first action of the New Year.

The action begins on Tuesday at 19.30 at Rosslyn Park as Brighton College and Seaford College meet for what should be one of the best games of the week.

Brighton College are unbeaten, and beat St Olave’s on Saturday, and will be keen to make sure that run continues through. Seaford will pose a strong threat though, and on the artificial surface we should be treated to an exciting game of running rugby.

Wednesday sees a number of games take place, with perhaps the highest level game being Millfield v Sir Thomas Rich’s. These two sides produced some thrilling rugby last term and we can surely expect more of the same on Wednesday.

The NatWest Plate sees action on Wednesday too, with Lymm High School meeting Cooper’s Coborn in the quarter final.

There is a big County Cup Final in Norfolk as Langley meet Wymondham College. Elsewhere Cheadle Hulme host St Anselm’s and KES Stratford host Bablake.

Queen Ethelburga’s College face a very tricky task as they travel to AASE side Myerscough College, these games are always tough but it is always exciting to see regular school circuit sides face AASE opposition.

Friday sees two big games and big club grounds. At Ealing Trailfinders St Benedict’s host Whitgift on the 3G surface. It should be a good game of rugby, as fixtures between these two almost always are.

Over at Rosslyn Park’s 4G there is another big game as Wimbledon College celebrate their 125th Anniversary with a huge game against St George’s College, Weybridge.
