School 7s: Haileybury to play host on Saturday

The Haileybury 7s takes place on Saturday, one of the few School 7s tournaments to take place on a Saturday rather than a Sunday.

The tournament is a small one, consisting of just five schools, with Whitgift sending two teams.

That makes 6 sides, who are split between two groups. The winners of each group will meet in the final, while second will play second, and third plays third.

Group One sees AASE side Oaklands College line up against a good St Paul’s School side, and Whitgift’s 2nd VII.

Group Two, meanwhile, is headed by host school Haileybury, who enjoyed a fine fifteen-a-side season. They are joined by UCS, who had one of their best ever fifteen-a-side seasons, and Whitgift, one of the great names in schoolboy rugby.

It ought to be a good run out for the teams ahead of a busy 7s schedule, culminating in the HSBC Rosslyn Park National School 7 towards the end of March.
