Busy period for Scotland age-grades with U16s, U18s, and U19s in action

Scotland have named two U16 squads for the 2017 Colwyn Bay Rugby Festival in Wales.

Scotland name a ‘Red’ squad and a ‘Blue’ squad for the six day Festival from Thursday 6th April to Wednesday 12th April at Parc Eirias.

The team will play against three Welsh sides, the Dragons, the Scarlets, and RGC, at the Festival, which is in part a replacement for the old Wellington International Festival.

Scotland Reds & Blues Fixtures:

Saturday 8 April – Blues v Dragons, 5pm, Reds v RGC, k7pm

Tuesday 11 April – Blues v RGC, 12.30pm, Reds v Scarlets, 2.30pm

Speaking to the SRU, U16 Reds Head Coach, Bryan Easson said:

We’re very excited about this group of players. They have worked hard on and off the field to prepare for this festival and know it is a huge privilege to represent Scotland at this level.”

His U16 Blues counterpart, Steve Lawrie, said:

“The players have stepped up their work ethic and have shown a professional attitude during our recent training camps. Selecting 50 players at this stage highlights the abundance of talent we have in Scotland and that the future of Scottish rugby is in safe hands.”

It has been a busy period for Scottish age-grade sides, with Scotland U19 and Scotland U18 playing against each other back on Sunday 26th March.

Scotland U19 trailed 7-0 at half time but came back strongly in the second half, scoring 19 unanswered points for a 19-7 victory.
