NatWest Cup: Schools Cup entry deadline approaching

The deadline for entry into the U18 and U15 RFU Schools Cup competitions is this Friday (26th May).

 

As last year, there are five level of competition at U18 Level, Champions Trophy, Cup, Plate, Vase, and Bowl, and four at U15 Level, Cup, Plate, Vase, and Bowl.

 

Teams are free to enter the U18 Cup, Vase, or Champions Trophy depending on their level, with U15 sides able to choose between the Cup and Vase.

 

The Plate competition at both levels is for teams losing the opening round of the Cup, with the Bowl for those losing in the first round of the Vase. The Champions Trophy, meanwhile, is a standalone competition lasting just one term for an elite group of 32 teams.

 

At U18 level last year the Champions Trophy was won by Tonbridge, who beat reigning champions Bedford in the final at Allianz Park in early December.

 

The remaining finals took place in March, with the Cup and Vase at Twickenham, and the Plate and Bowl at Worcester Warriors’ Sixways Stadium.

 

Warwick took the U18 Cup, beating Bishop Wordsworth’s in the final, with Wellington College winning the U15 Cup. The U18 Vase went to Trent College, with Thomas Hardye securing the U15 title.

 

Over at Sixways Reigate Grammar School were the U18 Plate champions, with Sir Thomas Rich’s taking the U15 version, while in the Bowl Old Swinford Hospital were the U18 champions, with the U15 title heading to Beths Grammar School.
