Schools Rugby Midweek Update: U18 Vase kicks off

It has been a big few days of school rugby, with the U18 Schools Vase kicking off in style.

With results still coming in, there are already some confirmed second round fixtures. In the North B section Ampleforth College will host Pocklington while in Midlands A Adams Grammar will make the trip to Ellesmere College.

Over in the B section of the Midlands it is confirmed that Robert Smyth will host Welbeck College, with Hayes hosting Chislehurst & Sidcup Grammar in London & South East A.

There were also some fantastic games outside of the Vase, with Sedbergh continuing their strong start to the season with a 57-14 win away at Wilmslow High School, while Dean Close’s quietly impressive start also continued as they saw off Magdalen College 35-5 on Thursday afternoon.

KCS Wimbledon saw off Tiffin ahead of Saturday’s Wimbledon derby, while City of London Freemen’s just edged out Eltham College, 27-26, in a thrilling game on Wednesday afternoon.

The Vase first round continues next week, along with a couple of early U18 Champions Trophy fixtures as the season really kicks into gear.
