AASE League: Phase 2, Round 3 Preview – Exeter College & Hartpury College go head to head for final spot

BECOME A PATRON

The final round of league games in the 2017 AASE League take place on Wednesday.

For those on the outside, the day is all about who will join Gosforth Academy on Wednesday 6th December at Allianz Park in the AASE final, the reigning champions, Exeter College, or the side that has won every other edition of the AASE League, Hartpury College.

North 1

With Gosforth having already booked their place in the final, for the second year running, thanks to their two bonus point wins in the previous two weeks, their game at home against Worcester 6th form College is a bit of a dead rubber, however they will want to maintain momentum ahead of the final, while Worcester will be keen to try to secure a place in the third place play off.

The other game sees Oaklands College make the trip to Brooksby Melton College, where again both sides will be able to secure a place in that third place play off if they win, should Worcester lost to Gosfroth.

South 1

This is where the big game resides, Exeter College v Hartpury College. Effectively it is a semi final, with the winner facing Gosforth Academy in the final. There is so much behind this game, Harptury had won every edition of the AASE league until Exeter took that crown last year, against Gosforth.

Hartpury have already beaten Exeter this season, and handsomely, but that was at home. This time Exeter will host, it is going to be a titanic clash between two side giving absolutely everything.

The other game is somewhat of a dead rubber, with St Paul’s Catholic College hosting Henley College in a play off for the 5th place play off.

North 2

Myerscough College are guaranteed to finish top of North 2, but Bishop Burton College and Moulton College meet on Wednesday to challenge for second place in the group, having both already lost to Myerscough.

South 2

Truro College have the bye in South 2, but despite being level on points with Filton College they cannot finish top, as Filton College and Beechen Cliff meet on Wednesday, with the winner of that game finishing top of the pile.
