Schools Rugby Weekend Preview: New term kicks off with a handful of games

After a quiet Christmas break, there is a smattering of school rugby this weekend before things really kick off next week.

On Friday night Brighton College return to action with a warm up game against Sussex U18, though with a number of players involved for Harlequins U18 the following day, it will likely be somewhat of a mixed side for the 2017 St Joseph’s Festival champions.

On Saturday four fixtures take place, perhaps most notably a huge clash between Campion and Judd, two schools performing outstandingly well this season. Choosing between them looks incredibly tough, both enjoyed fine first terms. Campion were beaten just twice, while Judd’s only defeat came in the Schools Cup quarter final, this could be a seriously good contest.

In Croydon John Fisher look to get off to a good start in 2018 as they host Chislehurst & Sidcup Grammar, both sides will be desperate for a good start to the year after occasional struggles last term. Brentwood meanwhile face a tricky challenge away to Whitgift’s 2nd XV.

Up in Scotland, meanwhile, there is a big Glasgow derby as Glasgow High School welcome Glasgow Academy.
