Schools Rugby Weekend Roundup: A smattering of fixtures kick off 2018

There was just a sprinkling of school rugby this weekend, with most schools not yet back and the U18 Academy League and County fixtures taking place.

On Friday though there was an excellent event as Brighton College ran out against the Sussex U18 barbarians, a great chance for both sides to have a run out ahead of stern tests over the coming months.

The two teams shared fourteen tries in a thrilling occasion, with Brighton College giving 45 players the chance of a run out over the course of the evening.

On Saturday there was a hotly anticipated game between two sides that really impressed over the course of the first term of the season, Campion and Judd.

Judd were unbeaten in their regular season, only losing in the Schools Cup quarter final, while Campion were almost as good, losing just twice all season. As expected then, a close contest unfolded it, with the home side, Campion, just nicking the win by a 14-10 margin. A fantastic contest with which to kick off the new term.

In Scotland there was a big Glasgow derby as the High School hosted the Academy. It was Glasgow Academy that came out on top, beating their neighbours 34-7 for a fine start to 2018.
