Schools Rugby Midweek Roundup: Sir Thomas Rich’s win at Millfield

It was a thin week of schools rugby, what rugby there was certainly created plenty of noise.

The action all began on Tuesday with a County Cup semi final between Lord Wandsworth College and Peter Symonds’ College. Peter Symonds’ were in flying for, running in the tires for an impressive 40-17 victory and a place in the final.

There was further County Cup action elsewhere on Wednesday as Seevic College won a narrow quarter final against Coopers’ Coborn, taking it 7-5 to progress to the semis.

The big news on Wednesday though was a superb win for Sir Thomas Rich’s away at Millfield. They took the game 31-19 to send them into Saturday’s game against Solihull full of confidence. Millfield will be disappointed, but will head into Saturday’s forward-thinking and experimental triangular with Brighton College and Portsmouth Grammar School full of excitement after such an interesting and exciting day of rugby this time last year.

Elsewhere Durham were on form for a 20-12 win over Schools Vase semi finalists Ripon Grammar School, not the confidence booster that the Yorkshire side were after. Meanwhile Barking & Dagenham College earned an excellent 30-5 win away at Davenant.

There is plenty of rugby to come over the weekend, and you can see our preview of it all here: Schools Rugby Weekend Preview – Saturday 13th January.
