U20 6 Nations: Wales name Leicester Tiger as skipper against Scotland

Wales have named their side for their opening U20 6 Nations match against Scotland this Friday.

The game kicks off at 8.15pm in Colwyn Bay, and Head Coach Jason Strange has named the uncapped Tommy Reffell of Leicester Tigers as his captain. Reffell starts on the blindside flank and is one of eight uncapped players in the starting fifteen.

While he may not have U20 experience though, he did captain the Wales U18 side last year, and there are a number of players from that side named in this, including Ospreys scrum half Harri Morgan, who is still eligible for the U18s.

Commenting on his squad ahead of Friday’s kick off, Jason Strange said:

“We’ve got a lot of promising youngsters in there – many of them still eligible for U18s but we had a very young squad last season too, which means we can benefit from the return of players like Ben Jones and Rhys Carre.”

“We saw what a lot of these new boys are capable of during their time with the U18s last year, so it’s up to them to step up and show us what they can do in the U20s shirt in front of what is a terrific crowd in North Wales.”

Wales U20 will take on Scotland as part of a double-header with the women’s teams, with the latter kicking off their Women’s Six Nations match at 18:00 this Friday.
