School 7s: West of England 7s Preview – Sunday 25th March

On Sunday King’s College Taunton will host the prestigious West of England 7s.

It looks like a strong field, with the outstanding Cheltenham College among the field, alongside the likes of Champions Trophy finalists Blundell’s, and the AASE champions, Hartpury College.

The hosts, King’s College Taunton, are in Group D alongside QEH Bristol, St Laurence, and Colston’s who enjoyed a strong fifteen-a-side season and will look to translate that across.

Over in Group A Blundell’s are the star attraction, but it will be a tough group, with Bryanston, Shebbear, and Exeter School, who are always competitive.

Cheltenham College, meanwhile, sit in Group B and are probably the favourites after that unbeaten fifteen-a-side season and their early season 7s tournament win at the Shiplake 7s.

Hartpury College will be favourites in Group C but Plymouth College will likely prove a tough opponent, while Taunton and Sidcot ought also be competitive.

Following the group stages the top side from each group will compete in the Cup semi finals, with second place in the Plate semi finals, third in the Shield semis, while the bottom sides from each group will play in the Bowl semi finals.
