ISRFC Lambs: Lambs U16s name side to face Scotland Red

The ISRFC Lambs have named their side for the first game of the Colwyn Bay U16 Festival, against Scotland Reds U16s.

The game takes place at Parc Eirias on Sunday, with the Lambs next in action on Wednesday against Scotland Greens, an all Scottish Exiles group that will see plenty of schoolmates go head to head, the tour finshes up on Sunday 8th April, when the Lambs face Scotland Blue.

Dulwich College’s Marcus Marchant starts at full back for the Lambs, with New Hall’s Maxime Findlay on the left wing and King’s College Taunton’s Will Brooke-Webb on the right. It will be a poignant day for Brooke-Webb in particular and the Lambs as a whole. Former Lambs outside half James Huxtable tragically tied recently. Huxtable was a King’s College Taunton pupil and a part of the Lambs’ groundbreaking tour of Zimbabwe in 2011. The Lambs will be retiring the number 95 in his honour, the shirt currently worn by U18 captain and outside half, Alfie Orchard.

In Huxtable’s ten position is Epsom College’s James Webster, with New Hall’s Toby Warren at scrum half. Berkhamsted’s Harvey Graham and Ollie Andrews-Hirons of Pangbourne College are the centre partnership.

Up front Felsted’s Tristan Smith, Cranleigh’s Toby Tyson, and Uppingham’s Carlson White make up the front row, with Harrow’s Jim Griffin and Wisbech Grammar’s George Dady in the second row.

The back row sees Framlingham College’s Kodie Holloway at 8, with St John’s Leatherhead’s Sam Smedly and Pangbourne College’s Stephen Bonnett either side of him. Joe Jenner of Reigate Grammar and King’s Ely’s Solomon Boon are on the bench.

Commenting ahead of the game, Lambs National Director Alex Laybourne said:

“The U16s have a very exciting tour lined up, starting with a tough game against Scotland Reds. Despite a disrupted season with games lost to the weather, they have come together well and will be looking to play an exciting brand of rugby.”
