England U20 name side to face Junior Springboks

England have named their side for their World Rugby U20 Championship warm up against South Africa U20.

 

The game against the Junior Springboks takes place on Friday evening at 7.30pm at Worcester Warriors’ Sixways Stadium, and will be broadcast live on FreeSports and www.englandrugby.com

 

Leicester Tigers’ Ben White captains the side, the former Denstone College man is at scrum half. Partnering him at outside half is former Moulton College star James Grayson, while in the centres ex Bedford School captain Fraser Dingwall lines up alongside the current Bromsgrove captain, Ollie Lawrence, who was today announced in the senior England squad to train at Brighton College next week.

 

So too was Wellington College leaver Ben Loader, the London Irish man starts on the left wing with his clubmate and former schoolmate Tom Parton at full back, while Dean Close old boy Tom Seabrook, who scored his first try for Gloucester last weekend, is on the right wing.

 

Up front Saracens’ Joel Kpoku makes his debut in the second row, with Worcester Warriors’ James Scott, the former Malvern College lock, alongside him. Fellow Warrior Ted Hill, who came through the Worcester AASE programme at Worcester 6th form College, is at 6 with Wasps’ Tom Willis at number 8. The Henley College old boy’s brother, Jack, was today named in the England squad. St Peter’s Gloucester leaver Aaron Hinckley is at openside.

 

In the front row Gloucester’s Alex Seville and Leicester Tigers’ Joe Heyes prop either side of hooker Gabriel, the former Millfield man now at Wasps.

 

On the bench former Bromsgrove skipper Henry Walker await, so too Northampton Saints’ young propping pair Toby Trinder and Felsted old boy Ehren Painter.

 

Denstone College old boy Sam Lewis cover second row, while Josh Basham covers the back row. Basham is one of four Wellington College old boys in the squad, with Rory Brand the fourth, he covers scrum half. Whitgift old boy Sam Morley covers outside half, with Wilmslow High School’s former star Luke James covering the outside backs. Beck Cutting, Ciaran Knight, Joe Snow, and Cadan Murley will all travel with the squad.

 

Speaking ahead of the game, England U20 Head Coach Steve Bates said:

 

“Playing South Africa is really going to focus everyone’s attention before the World Rugby U20 Championship and will provide us with valuable playing time before the tournament begins, this fixture also gives us an opportunity to finalise our squad for the tournament in France as well as get the players together to start preparing for the challenges ahead.”

 

“During the Six Nations we played well in patches and now the aim for us is to turn up the heat and play at a consistently high level.”
