U18 Schools Bowl: Round 2 Preview

The second round of the U18 Schools Bowl takes place this week after a quiet-ish first round a fortnight ago.

 

All eight sections are in action and the draw is full, with almost no byes to speak of, a real bonus at this stage of the competition.

 

North A

 

North A has a bit of first round catch up to do with KES Morpeth and Bede Acaedmy meeting. The winner faces QES Darlington in Round 2. Elsewhere it is all round two action on Wednesday, with Ampleforth College hosting Wolfreton, Harrogate Grammar hosting Prince Henry’s, and Thomas Rotherham travelling to Ilkley Grammar.

North B

 

On Wednesday Audenshaw host Runshaw College and QEGS Penrith welcome Giggleswick, while the action then continues on Friday with St Edward’s College v King William’s College, and then into next week on the 17th with Lady Manners v Wales High School.

Midlands A

 

Midlands A has Hitchingbrooke v St Ivo to be completed from the first round, the winner travels to Priory Academy for the second round. In the second round Ipswich host Wymondham College on Tuesday, while on Wednesday Richard Hale travel to Hitchin, and on Thursday Sir Henry Floyd host’s Robert Smyth.

Midlands B

 

It is an all Wednesday affair in Midlands B as Bablake welcome Princethorpe. The winner there faces either King’s Worcester or Prince Henry’s. At the bottom half of the section Queen Mary’s welcome KES Lichfield, while St Joseph’s College, Stoke, host Wreking College.

London & South East A

 

On Wednesday Sandringham welcome St Clement Danes and the winner will face either Watford Grammar or Enfield Grammar in Round 3, they also meet on Wednesday. Also on Wednesday is Salesian v Glyn, however the winner there will have to wait a week to find out their opponent, Saint Cecilia’s and St Dunstan’s do not meet until the 17th.

London & South East B

 

There is some catch-up to be done in London & South East B as Ashford travel to Sir Roger Manswood’s, the winner faces Chatham & Clarendon in Round 2. On Wednesday in Round 2 Robert Clack host Coopers’ Coborn, while on Thursday Chislehurst & Sidcup travel to Sevenoaks and Reigate Grammar host Bhavsic.

South West A

 

It’s a full day of Wednesday action in South West A as Mount Kelly travel to Kingsbridge. Clayesmore meanwhile play host to Yeovil College with Midsomer Norton the hosts against Frome. Melksham Oak meanwhile welcome Sheldon, also on Wednesday.

South West B

 

South West B sees Cirencester College host St Edward’s Cheltenham on Wednesday, the winner travel to either Beaufort or Wycliffe College, but those two do not meet until the 17th. Meanwhile this Wednesday Lord Williams host Reading and St Bartholomew’s host Oaklands.
