It may seem strange to be thinking about pre-season already, but as this fantastic start to the 2018/19 schools rugby season has shown, a good pre-season is vital.
The superb attacking rugby and defensive organisation and hunger that we have seen characterize many teams’ efforts this year are forged from hours and years of training throughout your school days. However as a collective, brining together two and sometimes three yeargroups, it is that time spent in pre season that makes all the difference.
It is not just on the field either, it is time spent off the field (often exhausted!) that counts too. Training, competition, and some good quality bonding have long been the hallmarks of a successful pre-season.
With that in mind Travel Places have launched a Pre Season tournament in Cornwall, taking place next summer from the 27th August to the 29th August at Penryn RFC, with U18 and U16 tournaments taking place.
The tournament is a 2 day tournament with a minimum of 5 twenty minute matches, and it will also include plenty of time for training sessions as well as a fun beach touch rugby tournament on the arrival evening.
There will be evening entertainment and the accommodation is walking distance from the club with the beaches of Falmouth in easy reach too.
As well as all the fun and the rugby, the usual essential boxes are ticked too, with doctors from Return2Play and ambulances on site throughout, fully qualified referees, a dedicated Travel Places tour coordinator, 24 hours emergency cover, and two nights of full board University campus accommodation.
Having worked with the likes of Brighton College, Radley College, Sevenoaks, and Wellington College, as well as major sports corporations such as The FA and numerous F1 teams, the quality of the operation and the tournament seems set to be superb and at £255pp, good value.
