The final handful of school games for 2018 took place this weekend, with most schools on holiday and many players participating in the U18 Academy League.
The action began on a cold Friday night with the annual Colfe’s v Bradford Grammar School game at Blackheath RFC. A brilliant game unfolded, nip and tuck all the way, with Bradford Grammar the side to end the year on a winning note, 19-17.
Meanwhile in Birmingham KES Five Ways ended 2018 in celebratory style with a superb 22-12 victory over KES Birmingham.
Moving to Saturday a number of games fell foul of the weather as cancellations began to sweep around over Saturday morning. Nevertheless a handful of fixtures did go ahead, notably Bishop Vesey’s v Solihull, with the quietly impressive Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School coming out as the 24-7 victors.
Hymers College ended an impressive 2018 with a 68-7 victory at Hull Collegiate, while Princethorpe College collected a 32-10 victory at Lawrence Sheriff.
Meanwhile King Henry VIII Coventry secured a 26-8 victory over Abraham Darby to breeze in to 2019 and the 7s season full of confidence.
