U20 6 Nations: Scotland name Exile heavy 6 Nations squad

Scotland have named their squad for the forthcoming U20 Six Nations, with new Head Coach selecting a 32-man squad.

The squad features 23 players who are yet to appear at U20 level, while there are nine players currently plying their trade in England.

Sale Sharks are represented by two players in the squad, former Kirkham Grammar flanker Teddy Leatherbarrow and hooker Ewan Ashman. Also in the forward pack are Leicester Tigers’ Sam Grahamslaw, Cardiff Met Uni’s Will Hurd, and Durham University’s former Sedbergh back former, Jack Hill.

In the backline Bristol Bears’ Nathan Chamberlain will compete with Ross Thompson for the fly half berth, while Wasps’ Cameron Anderson is also included, as is Hill’s Durham University teammate Jacob Lineen and London Scottish fullback Matt Davidson.

There are also a trio of players selected from overseas, including Ewan Johnson who is at Racing 92 in Paris, Cristen van Niekerk at the Lions in South Africa, and centre Robbie McCallum, who is at Complutense Cisneros in Spain.

Commenting on the squad, Carl Hogg said:

“We have chosen a well-rounded squad with talented players across the board. There are plenty of young, exciting players stepping up to U20 level for the first time in their careers and we hope that they can make a positive impact on the upcoming Six Nations Championship.”

“We’ve prepared well and the focus is fully on facing Italy next week. There’s still work to be done but we’ve got every confidence in this year’s squad.”
