School 7s: Campion 7s Draw & Preview

The Campion School 7s takes place on Saturday as the school 7s season moves towards it grand finale.

 

Ten schools will compete and they will be split into two groups of five teams each. Those winning the groups will compete in the Cup final, second place in the Plate final, third in the Bowl final, and fourth in the Shield final.

 

The hosts, Campion, are in Group 1 and will be excited for this one having reached the quarter finals of the Cup at the prestigious Worth 7s on Sunday. Joining them are Coopers’ Coborn, Langley Park, and Robert Clack.

 

Also in Group 1 are a Gordon’s side that are full of confidence at the moment having claimed the Trophy at the Worth 7s on Sunday, they won the second tier of the tournament with a good 17-12 defeat of Shiplake College in the final.

 

Group 2, meanwhile, sees Campion’s 2nd VII do the hosting. They are joined by Howard of Effingham and Brentwood, as well as a strong side from The Judd School.

 

Old Swinford Hospital are also in the Group, though what sort of a side they send will likely depend on Tuesday U18 Schools Plate semi final result against Bloxham as the final would be just three days after the Campion 7s.

 

With the Rosslyn Park HSBC National School 7s less that two weeks away for a number of sides in the draw, this will be vital preparation ahead of the biggest tournament in schools rugby.
