School 7s: Reed’s 7s Draw & Preview

The Reed’s 7s takes place on Sunday as teams gear up for this year’s Rosslyn Park HSBC National School 7s.

Ten sides will be in attendance at Reed’s, split into two groups of five. From there it is straight to the finals, with the winners of each group meeting in the Cup final, second in the Plate, third in the Bowl, fourth in the Shield, and those finishing last competing in the Vase final.

There are former champions in the draw both, incidentally, in Group B, Felsted and The Oratory.

The hosts, Reed’s, are in Group A alongside Norwich, who reached the Cup final at the Wisbech Grammar School 7s on Sunday, and Gordon’s, who won the Trophy at the Worth 7s.

Also in the group are Framlingham College, whose former Director of Sport Simon Sinclair announced this week that he will be leaving the Northampton Saints academy to join Bedford Modern School. Completing the group are Reading Blue Coat.

Group B meanwhile is headed up by Felsted, who have looked impressive this 7s season without yet winning major silverware, they will be viewing this tournament as key in the Rosslyn Park preparations.

Alongside them are the Hertfordshire School 7s Plate winners, St Albans, as well as former champions The Oratory. Joining them are Skinners’ and New Hall, who always seem to perform well.

With just over a week until the Rosslyn Park HSBC National School 7s this will be a key stepping stone on the way, one of the last chances to build a bit of form ahead of the biggest schools tournament around.
