School 7s: Norwich claim Reed’s 7s title

Norwich School secured the Reed’s 7s title on Sunday, playing some good quality rugby in one of the few tournaments to go ahead.

The topped a tricky Group A ahead of Framlingham College, host school Reed’s, and Reading Blue Coat.

Meanwhile the other Group, Group B, saw The Oratory lead the standings ahead of Felsted, New Hall, and Gordon’s.

From the group stage it was straight to the finals, with top playing top in the Cup final, second v second in the Plate, the third placed sides in the Shield Final, and those finishing bottom playing in the Bowl Final.

That meant that Norwich would face The Oratory in the main final and it produced a excellent game of rugby, Norwich claiming the silverware with a 21-14 victory.

The Plate final was even closer, Framlingham College just edging out Felsted 26-22, while New Hall beat Reed’s to claim the Shield and Reading Blue Coat ousted Gordon’s for the Bowl.

For Norwich it was a key title as the prepare for the Vase tournament at the Rosslyn Park HSBC National School 7s next week, where Cardinal Newman, City of London Freemen’s, St Columba’s College, and Welbeck will be their Group U opponents.
