Wisbech Grammar School secured their Floodlit 7s title on Tuesday evening, heading a strong field to claim the silverware.
Played in a round robin format, Wirral Grammar beat Oundle, Uppingham, St Christopher’s, and the Oakham 7s champions Bedford in an outstanding display.
It left them unbeaten at home through the entire fifteen-a-side and 7s season, a remarkable effort.
Bedford came in as champions but finished up in fourth place, beating only St Christopher’s. Uppingham fared better, they won the U16 tournament last year and this year beat all but the hosts, Wisbech Grammar, to finish up in second place, one ahead of their great rivals, Uppingham.
Player of the tournament went to Wisbech Grammar’s Jack Trundley, sensational in scoring six tries and making him a player to keep a real eye on at Rosslyn Park next week.
