AASE League: Round 4 Preview – Unbeaten sides go head to head in the North

The AASE League passes the halfway point in this first stage on Wednesday as Round 4 takes place.

There are seven initial rounds before the two conferences split after half term, three exciting rounds have passed and round four looks set to bring just as much excitement.

In the Northern Conference probably the biggest game of the day is that between the two remaining unbeaten teams in the conference, Brooksby Melton College and Gosforth Academy. Brooksby have won 3/3 and will host this game against a Gosforth side with 2/2, who scored a stunning 79 points last time out. It looks as though it should be a finely balanced game and a vital one for how this conference may end up in a few weeks time.

Elsewhere Oaklands, who suffered their first defeat last week to Brooksby Melton, are away at a Myerscough College side that enjoyed a brilliant first victory last time out and, if they can perform to that level again, could set up a great game on Wednesday.

Finally, Moulton College are hosting Bishop Burton College and are looking for their first victory of what has been a tough AASE season so far. Bishop Burton are also looking for their first victory, but having only lost by 7 points and 6 points, they are still looking very much like a strong side in this conference.

Over in the Southern Conference Hartpury College host a massive game against Exeter College. The champions, Hartpury, are unbeaten and looking formidable but they host the only side apart from themselves ever to win the AASE League. Exeter were ticking along really nicely until a shock defeat to newcomers City of Oxford last time out, surely though that will have them fully charged and determined to bounce back on Wednesday.

City of Oxford College will meanwhile want to hold on to that momentum from last week. They are at home to Beechen Cliff on Wednesday, a side who started slowly but came bouncing back last week.

SGS Filton College meanwhile come back from their bye week and head south to Truro College, who are yet to win a game so far with three defeats from three. After beating Beechen Cliff last time out, Filton will surely want to capitalize on that on Wednesday.
