BECOME A PATRON

This week sees a huge amount of schools rugby taking place right around the country.

Knockout competitions dominate, with the Champions Trophy, Schools Cup, Schools Plate, Schools Vase, and Schools Bowl all seeing action. We have previewed and will be covering the Champions Trophy, and Schools Cup, Plate, and Vase elsewhere on the site and you can follow the links below to view those previews. The Bowl, which is still a little jumble, we will cover along with the rest of the remaining fixtures in this piece.

Champions Trophy Round 2 Preview

Schools Cup Round 2 Preview

Schools Plate Round 1 Preview

Schools Vase Round 3 Preview

Tuesday

Scotland dominates on Tuesday with three massive Scottish Schools Cup fixtures. Loretto travel to Edinburgh Academy, with Stewart’s Melville heading over to Glenalmond College. Strathallan meanwhile host Boroughmuir High School.

There is also a Schools Bowl game on Tuesday as Torquay Boys Grammar host Mount Kelly in South West A.

Wednesday

There is plenty of Bowl action on Wednesday too, not least at Ampleforth College, who had a fantastic result against Hymers on Saturday. They host Harrogate Grammar in North A round 2.

Over in London & South East B Beth’s Grammar welcome Wilmington Grammar, while St Dunstan’s College host Maidstone Grammar, both in the second round.

Midlands A meanwhile sees Hereford 6th form College welcome Princethorpe College, while in Midlands B Sandringham head to Roundwood Park. Meanwhile in South West A Plymouth College play host to Yeovil College.

Back in Scotland Merchiston Castle’s Cup defence continues as they travel to Glasgow High School, while in the Scottish Plate St Aloysius’ College host Hutchesons’ Gramar. In Wales, meanwhile, Christ College Brecon welcome Ysgol Gyfun Bro Morgannwg.

There is a fixture in England on Wednesday that should really whet the appetite as the greatest AASE side host one of the best school sides in the country, with Hartpury College welcoming Kirkham Grammar School. The only dampener is that Hartpury actually have an AASE game on Wednesday, so they may have to compromise on selection.

Elsewhere Abraham Darby host St Joseph’s, Stoke, while AKS Lytham welcome Ripley St Thomas and Royal Alexandra & Albert head to Churcher’s College.

Cokethorpe v Pate’s Grammar has the look of a close game, while not far away Cleeve will be welcoming Cheltenham Bournside. Meanwhiel Dunnotar head to Ewell Castle and Hill House head to a Hymers College side looking for a big performance after Saturday.

South East London sees a really exciting looking game as Hayes welcome Eltham College, one to really keep an eye on there. Elsewhere Bexhill College head to Steyning Grammar and Royal Latin host Akeley Wood.

The impressive St Ambrose College are in action at home to Sir John Deane’s, with KES Aston travelled to Shrewsbury and KES Five Ways are in action at home to Kenilworth.

Thursday

Thursday sees a massive game as Stowe host Radley College, two schools that are among the oldest rugby sides around. Stowe should be confident after picking up their first victory on Saturday, though Radley will also be in good spirits after winning the Oxford derby last week.

Elsewhere King’s Rochester host Bethany and Sidcot head to Wells Cathedral, while there is also an Anglo-Scots clash with Loretto travelling down to QES Kirkby Lonsdale.

There is a massive game in the North West too, Lymm High School heading to Stockport Grammar, a game that should provide a huge amount of entertainment.
